Our Mission
The Full Story
Social workers are some of the best qualified and trained elected officials with the right combination of service and ethics to meet the demands of a very challenging future.

We need more social workers like you to step into positions of governance to solve the future problems of environmental, social justice, and political corruption concerns.
We developed a program called the "Candidate Academy for Electing Social Workers" (CAFESW), a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.
The CAFESW project aims to provide an educational setting where social workers can learn how to run for public office from other social workers who have won elected positions.
It is a 12-week course, two hours a night, on Wednesday evenings from 5 pm to 7 pm PST. The next course will start the second week of January 2025. The course is given three times yearly (like a quarter system), excluding summer. All classes are taught on Zoom. A different elected social worker teaches each night of the course. Most students will find an instructor they identify with during the course.

Instructors choose which curriculum piece and day they are interested in teaching.
A subcommittee of our group established the curriculum and syllabus for the project that all faculty members approved.
